Project summary:
The goal of the project was to improve representation and inclusion of persons with disabilities in electoral and democratic processes, and increasing their resilience against political manipulation.
Key Outcomes
- Increased access to information for electoral aspirants and voters with disabilities,
- Building capacity of pastoralists with disabilities to engage in electoral affairs,
- Advocated for opening up formal government spaces to the whole community.
- Developed and launched the “Minimum Demands” targeted at political parties just before the elections in order to maximize the attention of aspirants.
The Outcomes of the project include the development of a “minimum demands” advocacy tool for pastoralists with disabilities, stakeholder consultative workshops, and round-table discussions with representatives of pastoralists with disabilities to gather information about their experiences and challenges in political participation.
