Harun Maalim Hassan (Paraplegic). MA (Public Administration), B. Env. Studies (Planning & Management), Certified Motivation UK Peer Trainer. He is an Author, Story Teller, Social Justice Commentator and Opinion Contributor with Kenya`s number 1 newspaper (Daily Nation.) He is also Awards Winner; Malaika Tribute Award 2012 and an Outstanding Achievement Award 2018 -initiatives to celebrate and recognise those who are contributing/contributed in our society to better lives of others

On 23rd March 2007, he was involved in a horrific road accident that almost took his life. For a year, he spent his time in a hospital and another long year completely confined in a bed in his rural home in Kutulo, Mandera County. Doctors told him he will never walk again. Recovery and adjusting to a paraplegic-wheelchair-lifestyle was tough and a frustrating one. Later he slowly emerged to overcome his trauma and became a major advocate for the inclusion rights of persons with disabilities among nomadic communities of Northern Kenya in particular and in Kenya in general. Served in the Board of National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) State Agency, Association of Physical Disabled of Kenya (APDK) a leading disability services provider in Kenya and served as a Commissioner with World Disability Union,
